painting ur intercooler black
Re: painting ur intercooler black
not really.
with airflow there is bugger all difference.
without air flow there is a big difference BUT typically the turbo isn't on boost so its not making heat anyway. also the black make the IC heat up from heat soak from the engine bay a lot more, especially top mount but also front mount as radiator airflow often swirls around the edge of the radiator and back through. (i had air temp sensor in the front bumper and the temp when over 50c as soon as i stopped).

how so chap? radiation from the sun will typically heat up a black surface,
I'm not sure it works in a dark engine bay?
I'm not sure thermal radiation from heat soak is colour prejudice...
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions

Well we paint all our stuff matt black because polished stuff is just asking for a big tree branch or rock to go through it , even painted the IC on the drag car we run and I'm sure if the paint was gonna cause heat soak from waiting in the staging lanes we would surely notice it.
