80 series fuel pick up

Has anybody had any experience with checking/cleaning out their fuel pick up in the fuel tank? I am thinking mine may need a clean? I have a funny idle, barely noticeable, but told it could be my injectors... I also notice (maybe its just me) a loss of power sometimes, unsure if the fuel pick up could contribute to these problems?

Thanks.

Yes,
When I took mine out it was a bit dirty, was a while ago but pretty sure access is under the passenger side rear seat under the carpet.
Cheers

Thanks. Did you just take it out and clean it with water? How did you clean out the sump (if it has crap in it)?

Just used an old tooth brush and some petrol and then some compressed air.

Pretty sure there is a bit of access in the top of the tank to do a bit of cleaning.

If really bad may need to drop the tank, hopefully not.

Cheers

How do I get the air out of the system once I put it all back together?

when i pushed my cruiser past the 100 kms / hr mark it had a big flat spot & a blocked pick up was the problem .
theres a tool mechanics have its like a weed sprayer only when you pump the handle it sucks , he used this to clean the tank .
when you take the pick up out theres a baffled of area were it sits & this was full of shit .
as for bleeding pull the hose of at the pump & use the manual primer when fuel appears put the hose back on ,job done .
