i have seen them advertised on trade me, just had a look and not on there currently but done by an outfit in christchurch. they supply a replacement glass and a seal. quite likely be cheaper to just go see a local automotive glass place and get them to source it

panel steel would be the quickest and cheapest,
any panelbeater could cut and spot that in at a reasonable outlay

I had mine replaced by the crowd off TM - I think they are called fast autoglass, there on Moorhouse Ave. Was around $450 for new glass, rubber seals , removal of old fecked sliders and fitment of new single piece glass. A fair price I reckon. The crowd in greymouth quoted $800

thought of along the lines of making a template out of 6mm mdf and getting the toughened glass made to suit. then its either silicon glue it in or find the rubber beading that is used on either camper vans or busses to hold the glass panel in.
cant see why flat toughened glass would be a issue as it doesn't need to be curved or rolled.
