Ive flagged all previous ideas but stuck with the safari diff conversion. My new plan is to convert from ifs front end surf to solid beam axle and change my rear diff to safari aswell. Does or would anyone have any plans as whats needed to be done and how i go about doing it?

what level of engineering knowledge and experience do you have mate and are you intending to do the conversion yourself or get some help from someone to swap it all over

Nah i dont know anything but ive got a welder/engineer mate that knows what hes doing just needer know what i havto cut off, weld where and move what.

pay the money and get someone who knows what they're doing it's not just cutting housing and welding bits on get it wrong it costs twice as much especially when axles are out of alignment even a few thou.

Call me cocky but im realy not im just trying to learn and build here. U shouldve heard my first plan proberly just as much work as this plan but hey owell i wanna know my truck inside n out. Our engineer is bloody good in his line of work i trust him with doing my welding and what not and yeah its going to be road legal.

I did a safari axle swap in a 130 at the end of last year. 3 link front and rear blah blah. If you can be bothered going back thru my Facebook page theres heaps of pics. It was the blue one on simexs

when you ask "whats needed to be done and how i go about doing it?" it sort of suggests you have very limited or no knowledge of what you want to do or need to do and judging by the other thread you posted a couple of weeks back I'd guess that would be the case, no disrespect intended coz we all have to start somewhere and we know nothing until we've got stuck in and done shit and learnt how not to do it next time

you need to get a clear picture of what the outcome is you want to achieve, leaf sprung, SUA, SOA, coil sprung, coilovers, air shocks, hydraulic bump stops, big articulation, average articulation, little articulation, radius/trailing arms, 3 link, 4 link, triangulated, A arm, pannard, lvvta certified, bush truck only etc etc there are so many options and so many questions

the best way to find out what you want is to put some time in trolling all the internet forums to see what other people have done, how all the different setups work and what would work for your truck and get a picture in your head how it all works and fits together, there's a few good threads I've seen in the projects forum on here that cover saf diffs into hiluxes/surfs that would be a good starting point, good luck .

Why is it that all the trials vehicle a few years back used Toyota & Hilux diffs etc because they were the 'best' now everyone want's to throw them out for Nissan running gear?

they stopped using the toyo lux stuff a few years back coz they kept breaking
