stupid sj413 stater

having heaps of trouble with my starter clicking like its solenoid? have tested on bench and runs fine, does what it should, brushes are fine . . .
will start fine if you bridge starter with screwdriver. HELP what next???

Check the voltage drop across your pos and neg leads and across engine earth, should be no higher than 0.5 volts, if it is you've got a high resistance in a connection or lead itself

You may need to run a relay for the trigger circuit using the standard trigger wire as the activation for the relay. The standard wiring is only just adequate from factory and over the years some of them lose a bit of current carrying capacity which is enough to stop it working. The fact that you can bridge it and it works fine points to this being the case IMO.

just what I'm after, is the relay like the spotlight relays you can you get??

yes :)
You can use a 4 or 5 pin relay, just ignore the middle pin if you get a 5 pin one.
