I know from Ford duratec ones you get a squeak at idle and the starter motor fills up with iron dust. Pull the starter and inspect the pinion area for metal powder.

When the one in the work Hiace failed on me there was no extra sound as such that I remember just a horrific vibration

Never known of any successful dualmass flywheel to be any good in any vehicle they were fitted in. Thats any manufacturer.

The odd thing is , I have not really truely noticed any better guality of refinement of the vehicle when dmf is fitted.
Sometimes fitted for space limitations. Really I say, so how come there is allways a smf replacement for the inflicted vehicle.

Sorry about rant. Cheers.

Fitted a sold flywheel to a Prado, at idle, in neutral it caused a small rattling sound in the gearbox. something to do with the pulsing of a diesel motor.
