After front u-joints for a TJ (front axles and front of drive shaft), along spicer quality. Anyone know of anywhere in NZ you can get them? Preferably Wellington area...

Otherwise who's the best in the US to deal with from here? Have emailed quadratec for shipping quotes but they're taking a while to get back, which doesn't fill me with confidence...

Quadratec is actually really good. Sent them an email last night with what I wanted. Order was ready and paid for by 10am today. Shipping by DHL Express is most reasonable.

You can use summitracing.com or RockAuto.com. I use all three, depending on how urgent I want and who has items in stock.

Locally, for u-joints you can contact any good truck part supplier. I have used Maxi Auto Parts for genuine Dana Spicers. Very helpful.

Offroad Specialties in Whangarei is another good choice.

Lastly, use search function first in future. I may not be in such a friendly mood. All these vendors have been discussed numerous times here.

you could see if this would suit...?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=764613441

but in saying that...
i have just bought 2 Spicer UJ's from ebay for less than the price of two of the ones listed on trademe... including shipping from the states...

Purchased on the 5th... and they should be here today...
so... 10 days

Yep any and every truck (real truck, not 4wds) parts supplier will be able to supply genuine spicer. I'd try one of the big ones like Truckstops or Allrig as they will get a better buy price than smaller ones. But only if you know what you are after, don't ask for a u/j from a Jeep, you'll need to know the drive shaft series

Dana Spicer 5-760x for front axles shafts

Dana Spicer 5-785x for front and rear driveshafts.

Driveshafts are 1310 series, front axles are not.

I have even found Amazon useful especially if you have the part number

these guys are the official agents and supply the truck workshops.
If they can't sell direct they will be able to tell you their agents in Welly

Yeah, opinions change depending on who's serving on the far end, new staff coming in, old staff leaving, up sizing, down sizing, being bought out by conglomerates etc...

I had a quick look around and have tried Quadratec alreay, I couldn't see obvious listings on summit/Rock auto, they seemed to only do major upgrade parts rather than maintenance type items. But I didn't look too hard, maybe I'm wrong.

Like I said, I emailed Quadratec, still haven't had a reply, wonder if they treat international customers who only want 80USD of u-joint differently to 800USD of bull bar?

Good call on the truck shop, I'll try them.

Kind of keen to stay away from ebay specials, unless anyone can vouch for anything that you know of as good quality?

In the mean time, perfectly acceptable to remove the front u-joints and run in RWD mode right? Is there any chance of anything hitting, or the stub axle sliding out?

Ebay worked for me.

NZ$101 = 2 x Spicer U Joints in 9 days, including freight.

The jeep is now jacked up with one axle out...
I just need to find some one to press them out and in.

Ebay easy... :)

Try foothilloffroad on ebay. They have everything you want. I have used them in the past with very good results.

Summitracing and RockAuto carry everything as well. I'm not sure how you are searching them. Can I double check as to what are you after. Are you needing axle u-joints or driveshaft u-jioints?
