As per the title. Mine is buggered. Gonna pull it down monday and see if it's just the brushes, but if the reg has poped ( I suspect it has) I'm gonna need a replacement. $270 for a new chinese one, but i'd prefer a second hand OEM unit as at least I know they work.

I think it's the reg that's died which i dont think you can get replacements for. I've found a second hand one, so after I get mine off and inspected I should be good. Fingers crossed it's just brushes.

They are fully rebuild-able with most parts available including regs. I have found with these internal fan denso alternators that they don't like having mud in them as they overheat and fail.
I haven't found an after market brand that doesn't have issues and we have tried a few. The biggest issue with copy units is parts availability when they fail.

After all that the alternator tested up on the bench fine. Seems the batteries were soo rooted they were dragging the alternator down to 12v. Replaced the brushes as it was apart, and chucked it in with two new batteries from work. Now I am waiting on the ECU to come back from being repaired so I can see if it worked
