Pto winch setup

My PTO unit on the side of my gq gearbox only had sealer between it and the gearbox. Should it have a gasket or not?

When I fitted one I didn't use one. Just gasket goo.

I've read shit before about needing the thickness of the gasket to get the gears meshing correctly but I've never bothered nor had any problems

Why risk it? Very hard to find & expensive to replace if it breaks.

Apply boue to the pto teeth and install. Turn and then remove. If the blue shows teeth are bottoming out then a gasket is a must.
