4th gen Surf.. anyone know what they are like

Anyone know what the newest shape surfs are like? I like the 'new' shape Hilux but for me an SUV type wagon is more practical. Didn't even realise they made a surf in that shape. I see its based on a J120 Prado chassis, so that's got to be good. 05 up models got the 2TR instead of the 3RZ anyone know what the TR is like in comparison? Just looking for a nice newer daily driver and something that will still be able to tow the bush truck around (probably around 1.5ton incl trailer). Budget probably max 25k so any other suggestions welcome.
Cheers, Clive

Anyone?
Our Captiva transmission 4kd so after fixed will trade on something else.
Looking at 4th Gen surfs with the 1gr-fe, anyone had experience with these?
Apparently same platform as the 120 prado.

Weve got the 4ltr petrol in an 06 prado. It a rocket.
Good smooth torque and hp to spare.
Good on gas around 8Lp100k open
Havent done a lot of towing as use my l.c or truck instead but wife friends tow horse floats and rock along comfortabily with no complaints.
We have fitted a bigass trans cooler as the caravan is 2.2t loaded.
It pulls it well but only done local around town stuff so does not really count.
Best im awere prado and hilux ran the same drive train so would of thought a surf with a 4ltr would be a heap of fun altho a bit dicey in the wet....
Known what i mean.....

Yeah know what you mean, bit like a v8 commodore before traction control was invented.
Go even nicer with a sc.
Won't tow too often but would be handy to handle towing my surf or horse float.

Picturing winch bars and snorkels now.

I see some of the 120 prados are full time 4wd, are most or all or only a few.

Test drove a 08 4 litre surf, be interesting on a wet road in 2wd alright, it was quite fun on a dry road!
Ended up getting a 2003 4 litre prado because of the full time 4wd.
9 years older and 60000ks more and rougher condition than the captiva but buying younger didn't help, hopefully this is more reliable.
