Snap Ring Hub CV Joint HELP

Post by travis2ninja »

92 Terrano TD27T
Just replaced the whole CV Joint, putting the hub back on. Cannot get the snap ring to go on.
Its about 1mm from going on. Triple checked everything, all correct order, been hitting it with a hammer, still wont budge.. checked cv with original, everything is identical ....

Use the snap ring pliers to seat it on the splined section.

Then Hold the bell of the CV joint from the other side and put some inward pressure on it (ie pushing towards the hub), while using your screwdriver on the hub side as a guide to gently push it into the groove.

Is the locking hub body properly seated on its flange and torqued into place in sequence (criss cross, progressive tightening)?

Is the locking hub factory or aftermarket? The factory hex bolts have a tapered shank.
Is the replacement CV genuine OEM or aftermarket shitbox?
Is it a new snapring or are you reusing the old one?

If you are reusing the old one (which isn't ideal), is the snapring physically deformed? This often happens during removal. How you tried flattening it with a hammer or vice or two pairs of pliers?

On the Isuzu's they have a threaded opening in the end of the splined section which allows you to put a bolt partly in and then lever against the hub body to pull the CV as far out as possible.
