Welcome a noob to the 4WD scene
Welcome a noob to the 4WD scene
My name is Wiremu N i'm 31 and i am new to the 4wd scene and owning my first 4WD ever in my life.
That is a short intro of myself now to showcase my 4WD
what you see is a 1990 Toyota Hilux Double cab
under the hood is a 2.2 petrol/LPG,yes that means it's a dual fueled ute
it was a well looked after ute by the previous owner but it really needs a clean up and yes i plan to do just that but first i'll attack the things that need attention.
it has aliarc bull bars, running boards and rear end and also the rollbar is Aliarc too.
this is also a great people mover too hehehe its got the benchseat both front & back but i can't see myself having 6 people in this ute unless they are midgets that are sitting in the back LOL.
at the moment they are running 31" all terrain tyres but i'm wanting to go that next step and running some bigger feet on this ay, but that wont happen until i build my exp points in the art of 4w driving.
So without further or due that is me ay.
Re: Welcome a noob to the 4WD scene
I would like to know if anybody could help me out, i'm in dying need of information leading to the use of exterior parts from the KZN130 hilux surf can i use on the LN106 hilux double cab?
reason why i ask is that the ute needs replacement front doors and nobody has any good non rusty doors from the LN106 and the drivers door is the worst as nearly the whole bottom sill is rusting or rusted and there is a rusthole the size of a 20c peice forming so i would rather replace the both of them.
Please help

hi ya, nice ute you got, that rear bar may be a hindrance when you start climbing steep stuff.
the front bars sweet bit of work, the running boards tend to get bent on humps.
other that that nice light truck enjoy the great out doors

Hi Wiremu from a KZN130 the bonnet, front gaurds and front doors will all fit but if the front doors have electric windows and mirrors these will need to be wired in some how.
Re: Welcome a noob to the 4WD scene
Thanks klompy for that i'll have a look at tomorrow when i get a chance im hoping that there is wiring loom there but as i say i'll look into it. thanks coxsy for your insight there and i plan on going outdoors and some hunting on mild not too extreme terrain ay but at the time being im using it as a daily work wagon to get me from home to work and back it needs a little engine work eg getting the engine tuned to run good on LPG as it is a spluttering pig and use quite abit of LPG ay but i will get that done etc
Re: Welcome a noob to the 4WD scene
I a thought of buying a hilux for sand driving as the safari is to heavy for soft sand

Nice looking lux, make sure its well locked up as they do get stolen regularly.
You can also use ln130 doors for them as well, the surfs dont have the little quarter windows like your nz new ute does so you will need a complete door with glass and window winders etc.
