After a Hilux trans for 3y engine.

Post by kaupoi »

Hi,

Thinking that my motor was an 18r i bought a trans to suit but it didn't bloody fit did it, haha.

After closer inspection of the engine it has a big 3Y stamped on the side of it(cert plate says 18r).

So can someone tell me what model trans fits a 3y??

I found out the hard/costly way that a g52 and 18r trans don't fit.

So now i have a g52 and 18r trans up for swaps or sale.

cheers guys.

My factory installed 3y powered 84 surf has a g52 behind it. So all you need is the correct bell housing.

Probably a yn65 or yn67 Hilux one would be easiest to find. Yn130 surf is pretty hard to find and even harder in manual. Maybe I think its a yn61 surf but also not that common I don't think. Any YN series manual chassis will have one. Can you not just take the one off your old box?

I don't know. Whatever the factory fitted. Any 3y bellhousing will work as the g52 and w56 bellhousing are the same

Bought a rolled single cab without the box in it hence why I'm trying to ring a trans that fits.

I have a manual G52 gearbox and transfer from a YN130 Surf, Not keen to remove the bell-housing as it de values the gearbox, but may do for the right price.
