Spent the last week doing the suspension on the lux





Installed the hi pinion E-locker

Rebuilt the steering knuckles



Painted the IFS hubs and wide axle kit



Going 4 wheeling on sunday so might not get much done on the lux till mid week ,Ill post up more if i do

It's actually a factory solid axle truck iv'e just changed it from leaves to coils.

What part did you want pics of matt? i'll see if I can help you out.

as for my weekend, no playin at riks as am workin nightshifts.. bugger..

did manage to tidy up some new longer spring packs to put on the front of the 40..

Really just the control arm mounting points on the chassis. Did you use the Prado arms?

This weekend I half finished a bullbar for the front of our rangi rover, and then today at interclub champs, I made a front wheel drive rangy

Oh, and I learnt that SAT's can really damn smoke up on rock , and they're no good at rallywoods

Yes I have used Prado arms and chassis mounts. I got the arms off Trade Me and had some new mounts made by Toyota in Japan as they were out of stock, only took a couple of weeks to get them over here pretty good service really

Nice one - were the mounts a reasonable price?

How did you work out where to weld the mounts - trial fit and check for travel etc?

Apparently there are two types of Prado linked diffs, an early and a late. The late is the one to go for as it artics better apparently. Do you know which you have?

Not sure what the mounts cost, I have a mate with a fabrication shop he got the mounts for me ( and welded them on )

For the positioning of the mounts I took measurements of a similar set up on a mates truck and worked from there. The easiest way would be to position the diff under the chassis in the place you want it and push the arms and mounts up into position on the chassis rails then take lots of measurements then weld!

The arms I have are late model arms ( I think off a KZJ78? Prado)

well I just had a hell busy weekend, lkids, xmas parties, truck mods, and tried to get to Riks ooking forward to going back to work tomorrow for a rest and thats not good coming from a fireman :fire:
got the beast back on the wheels now offically to tall to climb into for someone my height, did some measurements new front shocks required have to be 720mm long. minimum! steering box in place mounts to finish, marlin crwler all finished driveshafts measured ready for lengthining/shortening, still desperately need a mid bowl sump for a supra tho, anyone I think the sump is gonna be the hold up, sorry no pics, no cam
will try to get some of the finished result

Managed to get the carpets of the new safari wet, those things aren't waterproof after all. The guy who sold it to me said it was But shit it was a good mudhole, even Liethfield need a tow through it.

Busy weekend by the sounds of it. we missed ya at the bonfire or should i say the 3 doz speights did that was reserved for ya

Might I suggest you get some ropes with knots in them so camera people can climb in and out, had this problem with leithfields truck yesterday, good view though

My new (slightly worn, but new toi me) tyres arrived for the wreck on Friday.
Gonna be interesting getting them on.
But they are farking big at 39.5 x 16.5 x 15.5.

Fitted a diff to the rear of the cruiser, thanks Niblik, lots of work around the house and in the garden.

took the starter out of my little car and it is buggered so need to find me a new one keeping an eye on trademe at the moment and i may have to ring te puke partsworld

My S3 109" SW failed it's WoF a couple of weeks ago & I finally got round to sorting out the probs. No1 on the list was crap brakes on the rear right wheel caused by an oil leak into the drum. So off with the wheel & start trying to shift the drum .......... surprise surpise jammed solid So try a bit harder & realise the whole damn hub is moving not just the drum Yup you guessed it the bearings are rooted Somehow the warrent guys missed that So ordered a bearing set today & will fit it tomorrow

i was fittn my tow hooks to the orignal bolt holes on my Mistral and with very little effort striped the thread outta all 4 bolt holes so now im gonna drill put tube in and bolt it rite through the chassis talk about piss weak threads and apart from that sucked back a few rum n cokes

Not a weekend issue, but I think my Isuzu may be sulking after not being able to play at Rik's on the weekend, we went out for Sat night but decided that it should stay parked up for the evening.

Low and behold, today the clutch slave cylinder crapped it's self on top of Westfield Riccarton

Tried to bleed it but I think it's poked

About to venture out there and pull the damthing to bits

Also I did see Rok's set of tyres, they are BIG

Had 8 year wedding anniversary, the wife is a patient lady..........

my weekend mission was moving house, Its lucky the garage is too low for the bighorn, as its chock full of shite.

i worked.. hmmm kinda sad.
I had the problem of garge too low. undo it off the foundations. jack it up 2 feet. make new legs and bolt it back down.. well something like that.

Well problem identified, slave cyl cup has a split in it

Bore seems OK so I will try a new seal and boot and see how it goes.

Befor putting cup in to give it a bit of a hone to remove the shine in bore

Cheers, already used the Maori hone on it, even got a nice cross hatch pattern, I think the proper cyl hone is buried in the back of the shed someplace.
