Hi, Injector pump in my NZ new 2000 Pathfinder 3.0 diesel has died, quote is 7K to remove, recondition and refit. The truck has only done 140,000km so Im debating weather to go ahead with the repair or not. I wondered if a QD32T motor may be able to be installed to replace the 3.0L as I had previously done nearly 400,000 trouble free km in a Terrano with the QD32T. appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks Mark

You know the ZD30's have an electronic pump right? Should check ya facts before commenting.

I'm guessing one of the leccy bits has shat itself=$$$ This guy specializes in converting ZD30 Navaras to a TD27T so he should be able to tell you about the conversion.

Your best bet is to hop on ebay in the uk.
Every second nissan over there is running a diesel vp44 pump.
Failing that buy a wrecked terrano/ mistral and bolt the whole 9 yards into it. I doubt there'll be any good ones floating around australasia cheap.
The reason i say uk is they are popular over there and rebuild kits are plentiful meaning lower price.
Just a quick look there is a new one for 299 british pounds

7k is pretty steep even for a VP44 pump. Before you look at buying a second hand pump or importing parts for it you need to know which PSG unit it has, as all the replacement ones are a later one and some of the early 99-2000 vehicles require a new ecu when replacing the PSG unit. Also these pumps suffer mechanical failure that roots one of the housing which is the more common no start issue. If you can get to the spill valve wiring and energise it and it will start the PSG unit is shagged if it wont start the pump has failed.
The QD32 swap is very common and it is making it hard to get QD32 engines.

guy selling Vh41 v8's on TM complete with loom ecu etc for 1200, comes with a free trans on the back of it, think you'll find they are from the luxury infiniti brand of sedans so will have a RE series trans on the back which you could bolt a terrano transfer to it and bobs your wheel spinning uncle.

Mine cost 1k for a 2nd hand pump and ECU about 1k labour. Was do e before I brought it else probably would've gone down the QD or even VH route if it shits out on me again.
