Hey team,

As the title suggests I know nothing about turbos. Although I've been driving around in my nissan safari td42 turbo for a year (bout it all setup)

I don't know if this is a big one medium or small? The boost maxs out at 1.0/1.2 bar at that point EGTs are climbing rapidly and it's time to back off.

The boost basic comes on from 1800 revs. Pretty sure 3" straight thur exhaust.

Ah just some info really. I don't know if that's a big turbo or not? It's definately got some bogey compared to NA td42 that's for sure

I've got water to air frozenboost setup that I'm yet to fit.

Its a scarles t3t4 with a ar 50 comp housing.

Not a massive turbo by any means.
Bigger then standard by a fair way though.

Is it a silver or black top engine?

Can't remember the info to figure out silver/black top but it's a 91 originally non turbo

that's probably quite a good match to that engine.
And some one has taken a good amount of time to build that exhaust manifold and dump pipe with external gate.

You should get that intercooler set up in there a.s.a.p, It should make the difference to the EGT's that you are looking to keep down.

Yeah roger that. Got a fair bit of work to fit it yet. Especially to fit front radiator, remove cross member and bonnet latch assembly. Fit new pin lock latches. Decide if 2" body lift to fit intercooler under hood, or cut hole in bonnet to fit under. Decisions decisions

only looked at the first photo.

intercooler, and inlet manifold will both help with egts,
modify your pump to run a td27 boost compensator will reduce fuel usage off boost
and possibly also lower egts
1 bar (14psi) is a fair bit above even standard td42t

it just so happens I have an old cracked head td42, hard to tell from photos but did you use the old inlet bits that bolt onto head, then fab backwards from there? Would stainless be a wise option? i dont have an Ali welder, but have the means to tig stainless

it's a spare manifold I got with a patrol engine that's over heated two cracks in that head.
I cut the top off with a cut off disc, 5 mm Ali parts , and a Maori guy who can tig well for free.
can't weld all in one go as it warps the intake

oh yeah nice, and its just a big empty space in there? i suppose being ali it just welds straight onto the inlet pipes, where stainless would have to bolt ay?

all the ones I've seen on patrol forums are Ali ,stainless steel has creep factors, or imagine a intake growing in all directions

yeah, its a mongrel - fought with stainless a lot, even the tiniest amps and it still bends and twists.

So what does the inside of your manifold look like? is there a diffuser in there? have been googling and stuff - see a lot of manifolds with curved back

same shape as outside used water to see what the flow was like even to all runners .

nope ,this is a first off build mark 1 even, always time to modd it if warranted

not much point. diffuses will cause turbulence which will screw up the flow and the balance.
