Hey guys, im new to 4x4ing and i have a slight issue with my nissan terrano i bought, the previous owner for whatever reason took off the clutch fan and put in a 10 inch electric fan. Its overheated on me going on like a 50 minute drive, do you have any suggestions on what i should do, I may just grind out the electric fan and put a clutch fan back in or do you guys have any other suggestions.
I will first water blast the rad then flush it, and see how i go (td27 non turb engine)
cheers guys [nissan terrano 1987 td27]

First thing is check the fan is working correctly, and drawing air through the entire radiator. The cowling/shroud needs to be working correctly and be the right shape.
Hold a rag to the radiator with the fan running, it should suck the rag quite hard into the radiator, do this in each corner and edge of the radiator and make sure it does the same thing. No point in moving heaps of air through just part of the radiator
After that check the thermostat is working, water pump is moving enough water and you have no air locks. Might be a good time to check your radiator is flowing to, take it to a radiator shop and get them to rod it.

Yeah thats your problem, really need to get the air blowing through the entire radiator.
Get a shroud put on and get it to a radiator shop for a good clean on the inside to. It will set you back about 150 at the most
You can make a shroud if you tight on chash or go downcto the wreckers and get one that is close enough and make it fit.

I agree with the lads above and if its been getting hot it could well have damaged the thermostats life span considerably so replace it well your on the job. none turbo TD27s don't normally build up bugger all heat.
