New to the forum,so please be gentle and let me know if this is the wrong place to post.

I have run into a problem both google and Toyota New Zealand cannot help me with.
So i am hoping someone may be able to help here
I own a 2001 Toyota Hilux d/cab 270 ex which is a UK import (looks identical to 04 sr5 nz new)
2.5 D4D (2kd-ftv) from factory.
Known as a KDN165

I have managed to completely destroy the rear diff well Crown and pinion anyway.
And its an E locker toyota factory type.

According to Toyota NZ they have never imported one before and Toyota japan have stopped making them, but will happily build me one for $2700 ex gst, Which is not happening. they told me the part number is a 41110-3d070 and ratio is 43:11 so 3.909.
From my google research i have found this diff was available in Europe in the Hilux KDN165 and KDN170, in the land cruiser 90 in the KDJ90 and KDJ95 and japan land cruisers KZJ90 and KZJ95 Prados i believe.

Is any of my info wrong?
Are there other variants that will fit my model that may be easier to find or dose anyone have one or know of one for sale?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if the e locker part is OK, and you only need to replace the crown wheel and pinion, then it shouldn't be too hard should it?

just wondering if its the v6 8" or the landcruiser 8". common enough after market R&P but i havn't seen them in 3.9 ratio.

Yeah would appear e locker part is fine as i had to engage the locker to remove diff headfrom housing. Axles appear fine, housing has metal chunks and fines all thru it..... Im guessing r&p replacment is i valid option if i can easily find parts? Diff is at lockup will take some photos tomorow for you. Is it easy to tell the difference between v6 and cruiser type? It all became quite bogling to me when searching for parts talking about v6, tdi, high pinion type. I see theres a 3.9 diff on trademe with stuffed bearings wondering if its worth buying for R&P...

need to check what diff it is. i think 3.9's are common in 4cyl diff which is no good for you.
if you have something odd ball it may be hard to find genuine parts here. aftermarket is stronger than factory gears.
have you had a look at getting genuine parts from the uk?

i see a listing of 8' landcruiser gears but not familiar with them. it may be its high pinion 8".

Yeah that would be my luck, as fo trademe diff i think you may be right, i have a feeling it may be a hiace diff. As for parts from uk i have looked into it and there seems to be plenty of options but i really needto know what im dealing with before i fork out a few hundred pound. Would prefer to either buy in nz or get rebuilt in nz but last resort will be the uk option.

toyota are quite good in that the diffs are used in different vehicles. a hiace one will work, provided its the right type.

But I'm sure someone will do the right on. I paid US$300 for a ring and pinion set and another US$100 for a bearing and solid spacer kit. Ebay might actually have what you need.

Yeah ill keep searching i have now dropped diff off to howat engineering in the hutt hopefully he can sort it for me.

OK I have searched thru Toyodiy.com and pulled up your truck.
The P/N they have quoted to you being 41110-3d070 is for the whole diff.....
You only need the ring and pinion which will be P/N 41201-80101

This site has some hits and alternate P/N 's you can select europe or japan to see what models it was fitted to.

$749 USD list for that part number, Toyota have replaced that with a new part number, 41201-80178

wjw connections in japan must come in rather handy..

looks the same as the E-locker in the rear of my kzj78, when I destroyed mine I got a new R&P ex America. Is the v6 gear set. took 5 days to arrive, but you may find one of the guys on here selling them. also be worth doing a solid spacer on the pinion as the crush sleave is crap offroad. what part of the country are you in? Don Kyatt is good for toyota parts

Yea i have been told they are the same as prado lockers but possibly different ratio.
Any idea what site in the states you got them from I'm having trouble finding any.
Was hoping someone on here right have a 3.9 G series diff for sale.
Supposedly yukon gears do them but having trouble finding them as part numbers not matching.

I used just differentials and the thicker v6 R&P is different to the G series. think you can swap in a standard 8" diff head to get moving until you can get parts in.
