Hey team have recently purchased the beauty to use as my daily and for hunting trips. Got a few wee cosmetic things to work on here and there but not overly concerned about its apparence, just interested to know what you guys think i could do to get a get bit more power out of it as its currently working quite hard when open road driving.

First step, tonight i removed the roof cage as there's a fair amount of weight there not being utilized and the next obvious step would be to get some smaller road tires so that is step two.

What easy steps can i take to ensure im getting everything the motor has? In the photo you can see the exhaust comes out by the drivers door an sits above the chasis rail so it won't get pranged in rocky conditions but i feel as though im loosing alot of back pressure due to its size and reduced length (this was a mod done by the previous owner)

Motor is a rebuilt replacement and am confident its in good condition, all the usual maintenance work (injectors, fuel pump, belts, fluids) have been done recently. Has a aftermarket oil prssure gauge which sits very constant at 60psi when warm.

The million dollar question...Would it be wise to go for a bigger turbo?

1st thing would be to get a decent exhaust on there, 3" mandrel bent would probably be best for that size motor. Then fit an EGT gauge to keep an eye on exhaust temps and after that the fuel pump can be adjusted to get more fuel in=more power and with the EGT gauge you can keep an eye on it to make sure you're not melting pistons. And if that's still not enough an intercooler would probably be the next step.

Yeah the exhaust on it is already a big one aye. EGT gauge will be getting done soon also.

Appears it's running the standard size turbo though and I reckon I'm loosing back pressure. The dash lights for the turbo flicker suggesting over spool.

Thats a link to fuel adjustment thread on ih8mud, lots of info on there for 13bt trucks. I just adjusted mine until it smokes a bit, if its already got a bigger exhaust I dont think theres much point in replacing it. Mines similar just dumps out by drivers door, A top mount intercooler would be a good idea also. Were in Nz are you? Could be keen to buy that roof rack.

Oh and think theres a thread on here about getting the Ct26 turbos rebuilt, there all a bit tired by now so would be a good idea. On my to do list.

I'm in Ashburton aye. What would be the next step up from a CT26 be?

Where a bouts would the intercooler sit? Doesn't seem like there's a lot of room under the bonnet for plumbing.

Can top mount, try google I dnt have my truck with me at the moment.

Reading the different opinions, front mount to me seems like it would have the biggest advantage, seeing as i only really seems to be working hard at 100kph.

Options

CT26 turbo from a 2JZ and modified inlet and exhaust - fitting bigger turbo means boost comes in later not what you want. or fit a CT26 from a 1HDT
14B-T Fuel pump and timing gear and modified fuel pump to take 21PSI
Front mount intercooler
3" exhaust out the rear not the side and keep it quiet nothing better than cruising past a noisy 1KZ LOL.
external blow off valve
Gauges - engine temp, boost, and EGT
Modified air filter intakes to allow more air through 50% bigger at least.

100kph will be effortless
