Help in Identifying what this solenoid/switch/metre is

Post by gary_in_nz »

Off an NJ Pajero 2.8 diesel, it is a vacuum switch or metre or something not sure what it properly called. lives above the left front wheel arch.
Has vacuum line into it from the main hard line off the motor that also tees off to the brake booster then the other side goes to the injector pump, maybe controlling the idle for the engine?

Has a couple of different numbers on it> K5T4 7579 5Y13 and on the other side K5T4 7590 5Y14

it will be either EGR or 4wd if it's near the firewall i'd suspect its the egr valve, where do the little hoses go to.?

thats what I initially thought because the 4wd lights were flashing but i crimped the pipe over and they were fine, would say that it was the vacuum loss that was making the 4wd upset. the egr has its own line also which comes off the main vacuum line from the vacuum pump. This goes from that main line (about 8mm pipe) over the back of the fire wall to this switch thingy that I dont know what it is, then down to the injector pump which goes into this at the back of the injector pump>

which has an arm coming out that looks like it should pull on the throttle

well that narrows it down.

I'd say that that is either cruise control if the N platform had such gizmo's back then or cold idle/start.

no cruise control on this old girl, maybe the autos or v6's. thats what i was thinking, just didnt know the name of it and searched all the Hyanes and workshop manuals could and it doesnt seem to be in there. I guess i will unplug it and take it into the mitsi place and see if they can get one.
