Prado Early to Late Conversion

Post by Brendon »

Hi, I am trying to swap over a early series Prado to a late series Prado. Upon looking at the wiring diagrams it appears that it is a completely different wiring setup.

Does anyone know if this is do-able or know of anyone who has knowledge on this subject that I can talk to?

I was told that it was fairly straight forward to change out the old to new but it is starting to look like a wiring nightmare. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm sure any car dealer can swap you from an early model to a later model.

Ok forgive me for not being specific enough.
Have old 1997 Prado KZJ95 TX, crashed it, body eff'd, bought Prado VX 2002 complete body. Wish to exchange engine from old into later series car. Wiring diagram in schematics completely different. TX model auto, VX manual. Different wires. Can it be done?

Sell the old gear, put money toward new body appropriate gear - that clips and bolts right in.
Save more than the cost difference of the labour and lots of headaches going this easy way and not having a 02 with 97 running gear.

Just an ex mechanics thoughts.

thanks bang , would the old gear include the old motor or could this be bought up to speed with the later version ie get a new ecu , engine harness etc.
Also the later version is manual and old series was auto. Not sure if this makes a difference az they are both kz motors. Any advise would be greately appreciated.
