The above is a standard 31 x 10.5 x 15 AT as fitted to the work truck.....





And this is one of my recently aquired 39.5 x 15.5 x 16.5 swampers that are going on the Rokmutt
I may have a small dick,,, but I do have farkin big tyres

Picked up my parts truck

dragged myself out into the garge to start pulling the head off the surf. Got the all the piping out of the way, radiator out ( which is caked in mud even after multiple attempts at water blasting in place) injectors out (had to make a special tool - socket welded to pipe with bar welded to top, most fun all day), air intakes from turbo off and throttle body ( all covered/caked in heavy oil deposits - guess she's been pressurising for a while now) couldnt find any crc for the exhaust side of things nor do i have correct sockets for the head so gave up for today

got a couple of teh things done today that I had planned.

Moved my axel foward 50mm with new springs and what not. bit higher in the front to.

Fitted my Rancho 9000 to the front.

lots more I had planned to do today but oh well.

I hooked up my stereo and CB......... oh and did some xmas shopping....

God I'm boring..........

Headed to the river with a mate for my first play with the new tyres. Found a guy in an older L200 4wd ute who was right in the shit beside the river. Was a couple of other 4wds near by but no one seemed game enough to get close enough to pull him out so we proceeded...

My mate went in first in the terrano and ended up in the shit as well so it was with great pleasure that I pulled up behind him and lugged him out after about the 4th attempt. After that we managed to pull the L200 out with little effort and proceeded to go play in some more mud. As expected the guy was very thankful and opted to stay away from the soft stuff from there on.

God I love my new tyres.

took dogs to a weight pull the big boy pulled 790kgs from a standing start not bad for a dog that weighes in at 41 kgs oh yeh n checked out body mounts getting ready to lift the mistral 50 mm

I did what Mike did. Except not with a Surf but with the latest addition to the fleet, A 2.5 Pajero with a broken balancer shaft belt.

When you change a cam belt make sure the balancer belt is changed as well! It snapped then started its trail of destruction.

The vehicle would not run - and upon turning it over by hand I could tell no valves were touching cylinders but it did expose that the rocker shaft was not bolted down, the threads were all stripped and the shaft was all that was holding the mounts in place.



Also shown is part of the belt that broke. Thankfully the cam belt had not broken however it had picked up the broken balancer belt and caused the cam belt to get stretched and it was rooted. I suspect it had jumped but there are no marks in any valves or pistons, having a floating rocker shaft may have saved the engine.

So I think there are two seperate issues with this motor, 1 being the balancer belt was not replaced and the 2nd that the rocker cover mounts wereat some stage over tightened or not tightened enough & vibrated loose.

So off came the head and looking at me was a lovely crack.


Maybe it has got hot at some stage. So things to do - get a replacement head (picked up a suitable one for $200) and then put it back together with new belts and head set. Might get the injectors checked while the head is off then put it all together and finally take it for a test drive!

moved the 24v to 12 v inverters up onto the dash, removed the carpets, fitted the bilge pump, went out on sunday and found a good soft hole in the ashley. Thank god for that weekend work hey Builge pump looks coool when in action.

i moved house..............

Went to Strawberry fair for lunch then Orana park for the rest of the day as it was the mrs' birthday. Then Sunday and Monday I looked after the boy as the Mrs was sick, helped to get ready for Charlies 1st birthday party today

Broke stuff as well, but not as serious as NJV6. Broke the previously repaired clutch input shaft on my winch. Managed to get a replacement from Toyota, the last one in stock in NZ.


Also fitted a new brake master cylinder.
