Did you find they both had 31 (31? from memory- its been a while) spline spider gears?
I believe the newer c200 (D22 series) have a 33 spline spiders, not sure if newer r200a stayed 31 or not

question....if the splines are the same and it fits the r200 housing...why not just use a r200 LSD?

29 inner/28 outer

Cause most of the R200s were a viscous LSD which is shitbox offroad. Whereas we want the clutch pack type.

mines a clutch pack ....actually think'n about it the viscous from the r32 GTS-4 wasn't half bad either

I meaning spline inside of diff nugget, not cvs spline, I'm pretty sure its 31 spline?

Main reason is the r200a doesn't have the 3rd spline required to activate the viscous coupling. To make it work would be custom inner axles (big $$) and no replacement parts if it failed.

Oh sorry Nath I didnt even notice that it was you posting - no disrespect intended.
FWIW I am preeeeetty sure the side gear spline on these early units is 29.
If I recall correctly Nissan did change to more splines later on (model year 2000ish?)

No disrespect taken. It quite likely is 29 spline - details float around and become a blur, I get mixed up from time to time.
I was going to use a '2-way' type differential but as it had 30 splines it wasn't compatible. Tatz (OP) probably has spline count there? Can't quite make it out from photos.
Year 2000- is probably the 31, with -00 being 29. Either way the c200 count is also different from a RWD r200 open diff I was thinking of making LSD.
