Gearbox creep?

Todays random question.. what would cause a manual box (SJ413) to creep in neutral with the clutch out?? Normally it will just try to roll and nothing else but I noticed with the transfer in 4L it will actually idle along! Seem to function fine changes all the gears ok. Sign of low oil? Is my only theory.
The spare box I have on the floor does it too, if you turn the input shaft the output shaft turns in neutral, but it you hold the output you can still turn the input just feel a little resistance.
Is it an SJ thing, is it cos they are both low on oil, or have I just got 2 stuffed boxes haha

Pretty normal, mine did it.

Just sounds like it is the oil churning, a bit like a fluid coupling.

just a combination of light vehicle and reduction of gearing that multiplies the torque and a slight amount of friction on the input shaft from the spigot maybe.

or selector is worn and its pushing up against a gear/sycro.

other thought is oil to thick or insufficient lube causes more grip allowing it to spin on the sycro.

I think it might be a lobster transfer too so probably doesn't help that, low seems bloody low even with 31s
