What might be the cause of the clunk when selecting reverse.
Seems more pronounced when truck is warmed up.
Done 280K.
Pretty normal for this many clicks?
Or ugly times a coming?
D1.
Cheerz

My Son's 95 V8 does the same into reverse from neutral and its normal for the mileage, just a bit of free play in the transfer box. Oil is thinner when hot so resistance is reduced.

Can also be a warning that the spider gear cross pin is working its way through the carrier. Caused by excessive wheelspin usually. Also some models had a rubber doughnut connection between prop and diff and these crap out too. See how much free play is in the diff. Any more than 1/4 turn and something is on its way out.
