Added extractors to my 3L

Post by catalystracing »

I took my truck off the road while I rebuilt my gearbox, I had the opportunity to get some extractors for the 3L. Wasn't really sure how much better they would be, but after a bit of asking around seemed like it would be worth it. The one recommended was the 4 into 1 which I had.
As the exhaust was off anyways I decided to go for it so bolted them on and once the g/box was back in I could then modify the existing pipes to suit.
Having done about 100ks since I find that that is much smoother revving and get another 500-750 rpm with out much effort, also cruises at 100kph around 250-300rpm lower than previous.
Will be keen to see how much more distance per tank it gives, but very happy with the mod so far, if you get the chance to do do it without much expense, go for it.
Now for a flowmaster muffler
Paul.

At the risk of sounding like a smart arse this is physically impossible with a manual gearbox unless you have changed your gearing or the clutch was slipping before.

Not smart arse just observant. All Im reporting is what I found, used to be around 3200 at 100, now its just under 3000. Maybe the replacement gear cluster is different, but thought they would all be the same ratios.

Hi Josh, yup shes all go and still on 31's, they need replacing so was wondering about 32's, see what deals are best at the time. Just need WOF n Rego now. New g/box feels much better. Did rear diff pinion seal also, viscous fan fluid and new rocker cover gasket, fitted 4 x 27 watt LED lights to the front and moved the UHF antenna, its feeling loved...
