Cant beat a 4 day weekend

Had that jolly fat man turn up a day early and create more work for me, right before christmas too

Out the back of his sleigh fell 4 x Mickey Thompson 35s and a 3" EFS lift kit Stoked!! til I read the name tag and they were for the mrs

I also got around to installing the PRS I had bought on special just before we went on holiday.

Plenty of brownie points earnt

Vice grips are an unusual electrical install tool haha!

Put the radiator back in the truck after finally getting all the Rallywoods mud out of it and took my beadlock rims apart. 160 bolts and only broke 4.

One of the rims has nearly all the threads stripped and nuts have been used on longer bolts and one of the rings is quite bent.

What do people do with stripped threads? Can you tap and run 7mm? Doesn't look to be enough meat to go to 8mm. Are nuts okay? What torque do the bolts need to be done up to?

grade 8 bolts and nuts are fine
people strip the threads due to being ti heavy handed when doing them up.

my process is to nip the next bolt slightly more then the previous and do 4 to 5 rotations of the bead. they all end up nice and tight with a lot less stress on the fastener then say 1 to 2 rotations

takes more time but worth it in the long run

got 5 minutes to waterblast the truck and even cleaned the engine up a bit. discovered some rust in the pillars and an oil leak where the dipstick meets the sump. i new i should have left it coated in mud

This fell out of santas sack... Going on my rear mount radiator... Feck they move some air.
Also scored some brownie points with the missus... And installed some new sounds in her little Rav.
The rest was eating and drinking with family...Now I need a week off to digest everything.

I fitted a set of those to my Bighorn. They are awesome fans. I used three change over relays and a dual stage temp switch so that at mid temp they run in series so they go low speed and at high temp they run in parallel and go flat out.

can you post a wiring diagram on how this works
im running two craig davies 16" fans but at std closed circuit they are way noisy and also just about pull whats left of me hair off.

they work so well that the fans are cycling on and off. imho it would be better to just have them at half speed and run for longer but with a setting so they can also ran at full noise for harder work

I used that and also put in a SPDT switch so I can turn them off, have them on auto mode or run at at full speed. The switch has LED's in it so I can tell what mode it's on. Used diodes to prevent back feed to the relays from the switch.

I I used the tridon page to find a dual stage temp sensor that had the right temp range for my setup

Once I found the sensor I wanted I googled it and found that it was a BMW 5 series E39 sensor so went to pickapart and got the sensor and the wiring harness for $10.

Fitted a 2inch lift to the old ladies 80 series.

Drowned Safari (Water over half of the roof) claim accepted and being taken away tomorrow. No pics as phones and camera went in the water and mates helping out get the kids out. Time to go shopping.

4 day weekend camping at Whirinaki, a bit of 4wd three trees removed of a short track that ended up taking all day ,the one near army camp for thoses in the know ,
visited on the last day by two trucks from Rotorua club, one people we saw since Xmas eve
we checked the hub temps when we got home with digital thermometer 42c. to 48c , and radiator was 70c

Finally did hub seals and bearings on the 40 after watching it leak oil onto my floor for a few months
Then me and my boy went for a long overdue play down in the river

Up'd the fuel, n boost on the mistral, now running 18 on the factory turbo and modded mechanical pump.

Tried to fit the fan under the cooler but ran outta room between the 3.2 and the bonnet, just got it fitting inside the bonnet intake ontop of the intercooler, so made up a water sprayer using the rear window washer and reservoir with a switch wired up to the throttle. will see how it goes next weekend,

after the 42nd trip. 2.7 was on it last legs turbo wise so got a whole QD32 for the same price as a new turbo. goes like a f'n stabbed rat now chirps tyres everywhere

A after trip check, a real bugger moment the crank pulley has a little wobble,
in the throws of pulling the front off ,belts, radiator out to check ,bastard that nut is a tight sod, nut loose cone washer is the next problem

Fitted a 2 inch body lift. Went to auckland yesterday and traded my 31s for some 33s.. Not as good condition but im still happy.. Also splashed out and got 4 new 15x10s

Good on ya's! Last time we poked our noses in there we came up against a tree that looked like a lot of work, was about to deploy the chainsawrosaurus on it but it started raining like buggery & was getting a bit late in the day so we wimped out.
