Spicer ujs

Post by zedz »

Just gave the rear driveshaft a birthday 3 x new Spicer ujs, center bearing and a balancing job. But I can't seem to get get grease flowing from all the seals. Most I can get is one or two and no matter how much I pump it just doesn't want to purge from the rest.
Anyone have tips and tricks to get past this problem?

Are you trying to grease them with shaft fitted to vehicle?
If so the angles will only allow grease to go to only 2 points.

Drive it and try again next week. The grease will get flung out to the bearings as you use it.

Cheers guys, Yeah shafts on vehicle & I'm not keen on removing it again! Center bearing retainer is a bloody pain to get the bolts in since Nissan thinks we have tiny wee helpers to squeeze in tight spots!

I originally though of cutting off pieces of rubber and temporarily wrapping it around the purged seals to force grease to other seals once to get a even flow, only for the first grease up.

Heard of people heating up non purging seals to make them flow but heat & rubber don't mix in my books.
