project De-Ranged mudda
ok ... here we go ... a BIG thanks to De-Ranged for the time and effort going into this project, we all know hes a bizzy man.
1985 Toyota Hilux LN65 running the 2L motor.
Mods: Rear Disk Conversion, cross over steering, 5.25 diffs (lokka in the rear and lsd in front), 35x12.5mt, rear leaf up front, XD falcon leaf in the rear, suspension lift, dual transfers ect.
most of the parts are from De-Ranged's project lemon V 1.0 (i think D's up to V 3.0) he just keeps building it bigger and better.
will update as we go and i will post pics when i have charged the battries on the cam.

evening all just thought I'd post an update
since some think I'm a bit slow
Sorry no pics can't seem to upload them
Anyway, stripped the front axle, steering & suspension out.... Mudda has stripped the axle right down (waiting on parts to recon it)
I decided to build a new front X-Member as the original had been in an accident in the past and was still buckled.... the new one is now in I also built in a bit of lift
and moved the spring carrier mounts forward abit... got it almost all welded in but the wind picked up and I had to pull the pin on welding
Till tomorrow
Cheers Reece

Tell them all to F##k off and carry on with project lemon. With all the awesome mods you've done to it so far i can't wait to see what sort of things you come up with next.

there is a few photos on my site, http://www.geocities.com/steve_jones00/ ... mudda.html
will update when i get a few more photos
will update when i get a few more photos
Right its time for an update but first lets sort whats been done so far....
This is what it started like before before Mudda met me and discovered Trademe
I nice bog standard diesel lux... who's only saveing grace is it refuses to die! case in piont the first day I went with Mudda for a play down at the river, with in half an hour of getting there he had it parked in a river wash the bonnet under water and the poor motor pumping steam and water out the back, bearly running on three cylinders
A number of deals and a wee while later this is how he drove it into my place
from accross town!!!
The new 35"s are too big to fit under the gards so they're in the cab, the deck is off becouse were building a new shorty for it and there was only the drivers seat inside
more on that later
You might have noticed he's getting alot of the bits and pieces from the Lemon that I've sorted and discarded, other than these he keeps giving me free rain on the poor girl....
The one question I asked before we started was
"If its a choice between a DNF or breaking something.... whats the call?"
yep! he'd give it a go
so I've decided to have some fun
First off the Rear up front swop.... stripped the front axle out... steering alternator, radiator and a few other bits to make access easy...
here it is all ready to go
notice the rust area on the passanger end, heres a better shot
the poor beast has been in an accident in the past and its still kinked so I made the call to remove it and build it stronger better than before
while I was at it I moved the hanger forward an inch and dropped it an inch an a half and made everything beafy'er the new X-member is 50x50 box with 5mm wall
Heres a shot of it half way through mounting... note the brace welded behind, put this there to lock the chassi in place before I removed the old X-member
I'm just waiting for the batteries to charge in my cammera and I'll post a heap more progress
with a bit of luck we'll have it waiting for the rancho's by the end of the christmas break
Oh and H2 watch this space it mightn't be as crazy as the Lemon but its not gona be a "standard" build
after all I need someone to tag along with
Cheers Reece

Time for the next installment
The finished front X-member
And here's a shot looking in at the bracing on the inside
With that done I attacked the front axle which Mudda had stripped
from this we ended up with....
I've leveled off the passanger spring perch with a 10mm spacer, done a shave and plate
Relocated the filler higher up and thrown a plate over where it was to reinforce it
Then reinforced the steering balls top and bottom and braced the long side with a piece of 50x50 box
you might spot the weld on the bottom below the driver spring plate this is to lock the U-Bolt in so it can't slide when I do a U bolt flip on it
Now its Mudda's turn to install the new bits and recon this

Oh and while I was doing that Mudda's been busy with the dual trans and trans lift
I already had the duals setup from when I was gona run them so all we needed to do was pull the original single trans and bolt the duals up
then the fun started
Before....
To save over cutting he started small and did the lift, mark, drop and trim thing till it fits nice with a bit of extra for luck here's part of the process
With all the trimming done he has started on the frame... we're doing a heavy wall box for the base that will hammer and weld the floor to and then use furniture tubing for the frame over the top
The fun came when we tryed to find new seats that will mount in with the reduced flooring
that took a few hours wondering round the wreakers with a tape... but we found some
and they come with seat warmers
Thats it so far I'll be sorting the front shackles tonight then its the gearbox X-Member...
Cheers Reece

Time for an update... haven't done much work on the truck in the last week been busy with work and building a transporter trailer but this is what we got done last weekend, and the fiddly bits I sorted over the week....
Mudda's been working on a new trans tunnel after I convinced him to lift the trans
anyway framework is all done and tacked in place after he left I went round and did the mounting welds... the floor is rock solid again
next job for him is gona be skinning it
As for the rest of the truck, I've mixed up a new front diff for him all set up now with new bearings and seals 5.29 gears onto a slippery head thats been rebuilt ready to go in
waiting on my Mudda Mechanic to come do some assembly work....
Got the rear spring hangers on and will set the ride hight and shackle pivot pionts this weekend....
Hopefully get a good go this weekend
Cheers Reece

not being able to run any of my paint programs
Anyway here is a taster for those who remember the project
This was done some time ago and we are alot further along (that will come when the pond the truck is sitting in drains
)
More over engineering the "Super U Bolts".... 16mm 4130 cromoly cold bent with 10mm plates
