80 series battery/starter issues

Post by mace08 »

hi guys, this is my first post here, i've got a 1 hdt 80 on 32"s with factory winch and lockers mostly used as a hunting truck and to tow the missus float.
i'm having a few problems with the battery's/ starter, well hopefully not the starter as have just replaced it with a reconditioned one as had been told that was the problem, both batterys are getting on in years ones 10 and the other 5, got them on charge at the moment but will probably have to replace them, but with what ??? do i need 1 bigger one and a smaller 1 or 2 big ones ? could someone please explain how the battery system in a 80 works as its got me beat, sorry bout the length of the post any replies will be much appreciated. cheers mark

Two the same would be best, they are a 12 v running/charging system but 24v starting.theres a series parallel switch on Lh guard that changes the way batteries connected while cranking.. call in to any decent auto sparky and get a load test on your battery's. If ones 10 years old and ones 5,I'd suspect you will be requiring new ones
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....
