1GR-FE VS 5Z-FE

Hey all ive wikied info on both engines but hasnt been much help.

I previously owned a 2003 doublecab with the 5z-fe, but looking at a later model surf than my current kzn185.

obviously the 1gr is more powerful. More torque. And a pretty reliable engine. But what are they like on fuel as my 5z drunk more than me down the local on friday night???
