Nissan mistral td27t

Post by matrox02 »

Hi all new here and to owning a 4x4, I recently purchased a tidy 96 mistral, r20 chassis, now I've driven diesel before and know that I'm supposed to wait before the glow plug indicator goes out before I crank which I usually do, however this morning 5 am after the trucks been parked outside all night I turn the ignition on, the light shows for a brief moment then switches off, a much much shorter time than it used to, is this normal operation? The truck starts easy as, barely have to swing the motor over and it starts and runs smooth, if this isn't right, where do I begin to look? May I have acciently damaged something by jumping in it last night and forgetting to wait?

no, mine occasionally does that if its been a warm night, only frosty mornings do i need to wait a few seconds before starting the engine.

the glow plug timer unit is under the dash...the actual relay is in the front right inner guard by battery about the size of your fist, uses the resistance load on the plugs to determine when to "click off"
as long as your not having to crank the engine more then 2-3 seconds with out it at least trying to fire it up wont be an issue.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.
