If you run no catch can and just a hose down to the chassis, do you run the risk of water entering the engine while deep water crossing or is the breathing strong enough to keep the water out?
Do you run the risk of the water plugging the hole and not allowing the engine to breath or is it strong enough to push the air out?

if the sump or block is submerged it cold possibly cool enough to draw in water, but i,d be more concerned about the mess that will start appearing on your chassi/undercarraige

Hi
Had a Landcruiser BJ73 with a 3B engine.
It dumps the crankcase with a breather at the bottom of the engine via a steel tube. I am in Canterbury in a 4X4 club and occasionally do some big braided rivers with water over the bonnet. It never bothered the 3B.
Did worry you at times with the fumes at night at the lights. I could see the gases in the following vehicles lights.
