My old man runs a couple safaris for his business and has a LWB low roof and its starting to get quite a bit of rust comming through the roof. We were bouncing ideas around and is it better to cut and repair/patch whats there and hope the inner skin is ok 'ish (wont really know about the inner until we open it up) or just bite the bullet and do a roof swap.

With the roof swap what are the legalities around it? can you chop so far down the pillars and weld on there or is it better to try unstich the roof and do it that way around?

cheers!

Hi,
there is a bit of angle on the inside of the roof/gutter area, where condensation forms and pools, causing the rust you see. You can drill some holes in so it drains down, or remove it altogether - this may require reinforcing another way.
Once that is done the cause is gone and it's up to you whether to repair/ replace the existing damge.

The only way to fix the rust properly is by removing the whole roof drill out the spot welds etc and sandblasting underneath , I got a new roof for mine from japan for about 1250 plus gst from memory
