Well not entirely 4x4 related but this morning went to auckland to look at a car with a mate and took the car dealer 5 minutes to change his story from cambelt having been done just before tradein to 'well actually it is overdue i remember him saying, we can do it for 600 extra'.. few gremlins in that one.
On a lighter note started to fit my vs 3.8 motor into my rolling mu chassis getting it set up for going into my good mu... no interesting pics unfortunately

Happy Birthday KIWI_TERRANO
I went to work yesterday....And my handbrake cable was magically adjusted to fit the new Subaru caliper swap in the playdoh.
Now fitted and guess what... I have a handbrake that actually works....
Going to play with some wiring today.....

Went for a spin up Mt Greenland, beautiful day for it. The track was in good condition, no wash outs or trees down etc. The mud hole half way up was straight forward with a couple of different lines driven - its been dry for a while here for a change, so made things easier. One of the hiluxs on 37s didn't manage to find hard bottom in one spot mind you. The george (canyon?) Was a bit more challenging, i ended up winching out the top of it instead of spending time on a shovel, 2nd lux was given a tow and the last one drove it - kind of did some shoveling for him.... in the form of 4 silverstones!

lol Not much of a view from the top due to the cloud
Heading down, a couple of kms from the top, second truck back has kingpin bearings fornicate them selves hmmmm. Crap! No room for truck behind to pass either. Find a spot with recption, managed to tee up some new bearings but there in Greymouth.... its gonna be a long night. BTW smiths speed spares are bloody awesome, i called him at 8pm on Saturday and he came through where i thought we wouldn't have a shit show. I head down the hill and through to grey to pick em up, feed at maccas, bakery goodies for the boys up the hill and return. 11:15pm.... bearings in. Down we go, just some light rain to lube up the steep clay descent lower down the track

home by 2am lol
Good trip

end of tokomaru valley road instead of heading down to the dam take a sharp left and head back east up into the ranges along the edge of wilkies old 890 ha block of land, be aware it is private property on the northern side of that creek. from there the road twists and winds up through all the felled pine (that hasn't been replanted ) there are tracks heading either off to the south or north east up behind said block of land

Puting Subaru calipers with handbrake (Leone front calipers) in the rear of my KZJ78 Prado.... Got rid of the drum handbrake.
Needed to shorten the factory cable to marry into the suabru setup.... Works sweet.....
Well in the garage it does...
I will throw up a separate thread when it passes cert...of what I did...

Also not 4WD related, but I spent the weekend at Napier airport manning a static display of our Air Force Agusta Westland A109 Light Utility Helicopters, quoting all the specs and trying to respond to those curly questions kids have
Weather was awesome, people were awesome, it was a brilliant weekend seeing everyone get into the swing of the art deco side of things.
For anyone that wasn't there, this is the beast I was with (and maintain).

Drove over 1000km, bashing up a river bed for a couple of hours and a couple of deer in two days. Not a bad way of spending a weekend. Very happy with how the old cruiser went, not one problem
