WTD FJ45 parts

Post by Dust01 »

Hey guys, I just took proud ownership of a 74 FJ45 long wheel base wellside with the intention of tidying it up and using the hell out of it.
There are a few random parts that after some web crusing I am struggling to find new or good secondhand so figured I'd reach out and see if anyone can help out here.
My wanted list is as folows:
- FJ45 Headache bar
- FJ45 Toyota tail gate (mines abit beaten up)
- FJ45 Tailgate hinges x4 (mine have seen better days)
- Drivers side doorstopper
- Radiator overflow bottle and bracket

I can see most of this list is a longshot but any help in point us in the right direction would be great.

have you had a look through allfourx4 site mate they list the overflow bottle although it may be a different version to your 1974 truck they produced 40 series for over 20 years so there were changes along the way, they have a lot of surplus genuine toyo and replica parts available, all the tailgate stuff would be more than being hopefull if its a factory wellside all that stuff's long since all rusted out :D your best bet is to start searching the USA stuff the yanks are into restoration and replica stuff big time over there ih8mud website is a good start they are more into resto cruisers than modified stuff on there :D

I'm pretty sure I've seen hinges on there site. Lots of other good parts there. Shipping depends on what your ordering I tend to hold back and make sure I've got Everything I could possible need.

They are really good to deal with.

Hey Derk and Kampfer, cheers for the replys. I've emailed both those links people you mentioned incase they might know where else to get some of those unobtainium parts like tailgate or the hinges. the back up plan is to find a good detail focued panel guy in CHCH to shape the tail gate back to it's glory days while I fab up some hinges myself.
I'm on the Ih8temud forum now too, so will hit those US guys up too. looks like Saudi Arabia might be my next "holiday" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr4ZEggVheU

Here is my truck in the Sounds while driving it down from Wellington, I took the long way home.

Damn that's a lot nicer than my P.O.S.

Dad (coxsy) posted a pick up of mine in "Show us your Toyota" thread.

Pete's customs would be worth a chat or the sheet metal place just a round from him to do the folding (Jackson sheet metal ?).

I want to make up a step side for mine eventually but will bung on a cheap tray to get it legal. Actually maybe I can go cab chassis for my wofs etc and sort the stepside later (why waste cash on an interim deck).

I have bought bits from kingswood country in Aussie (some parts are genuine and others cheap copies).
