I am interested in what EGT's you are getting with your 1KZ's? I have a 1996 KZN185 with a 2.5 straight through exhaust pushing 33's, plus a roof cage/lightbar/awning etc. On a normal day (ie: just me in the truck and no gear), my EGT's are as follows.

NOTE: My temp sensor is PRE-TURBO and degress CELSIUS.

50km/h = 350 deg
60 km/h = 400 deg
100 km/h= 550 deg

Are these normal? Very interested to hear

how is the pre turbo done?

temps at cruise are fairly meaningless as everyones loads and idea of flat road are all different.
what really matters is temp at full noise max load (ie foot to the floor going hard up a long hill)

Preturbo for me:
99 intercooled

100km/Hr 380 degC. Foot flat max is about 720DegC in third.

I have mounted mine where the 4 cylinders come together into the downpipe to the turbo. Took the shield off and drilled straight down. Plenty of meat to do a 1/8" npt tap.
