Thoughts on Alloy Winch Bar?

Have seen on trademe recently an aluminum winch bar for the WD21 terrano, would this be strong enough for the application or am i better off saving for a steel one?
depends...how serious are you thinking, the sort of stuff us levin boys do or just when you get stuck on the beach towing a boat on the weekend etc.
there are pro's and cons to all bars, it'll be easier on your front suspension, but probably wouldn't stand a good hit if say you slid down a hill into a tree.
just from what ive seen in a offroading environment alloy bars seem to do more damage then they save the vehicle from that they are fitted too,
