Hi

Just wondering if anybody has an Elocker actuator or motor out of a KZJ or LJ 70 series prado? I suspect mine is faulty and am keen to swap it out.

Front or rear diff?, it will be unlikely to find one, u can convert then to use a small air piston

Pull it off and inspect it. They can be repaired if they haven't been full of water for too long and they are available for $1200 new.

the shop doing the repair on mine said it was going to be around 7-800 to get it remade/rewound etc etc so just bought a new one, unfortunately was around the 1200 mark for a toyota one...

Mines the rear diff, looks tidy enough on the inside, just a little corrosion and it spins but not going under load. Hopefully I've found a replacement motor though. There are a couple of guys in the states that do write-ups on rewindinding theirs themselves if your interested in the challenge.
Does anybody have any measurements of the resistance across the windings? The service manual says less than 100ohms, mine was only 2.2 but I also read somewhere about as low as 0.3 being in spec. I'm wondering if mine has a short and only using part of the winding.

Have the windings turned black or are they still copper coloured. Normally an electric motor with a shorted winding wont spin at all or is really slow with high current draw.
The usual failure if they are dry inside is the magnets coming unglued.
Have you tried powering it directly? The control boxes do give trouble too.

Still copper colored, one magnet was loose, I've re-glued it. Pretty confident my control box is OK, im measuring 12v and 5.5amps of current flowing at the motor end. With the gearbox from the actuator removed and the limit switch shorted to ground it spins in both directions. Its when I put the gears back on its unhappy. Yet the gears seem to be fine and spin as they should.
Only other thing I suspect is the bearings on the armature could be causing grief, as it hasn't come out even when I pull on it yet it sounds as though it should come out easily from what I've read. I'm reluctant to try punching it out at this stage.

The gear has to go back in the correct place as it can not do a full revolution and it has the limit switches on it.

I managed to get a replacement motor, the resistance of the coil of the new one is 16 ohms.
Swapped to motor over and put a new bearing into the housing and it seems to be working fine.
Might look into rewinding my old one to keep as a spare.

Glad it sorted the problem.. Mine in lj was same, new motor sorted it.
