MR2 AW11 Calipers wanted
MR2 AW11 Calipers wanted
Hi. I'm after some rear calipers off of an old MR2 AW11 turbo to do rear brakes on my Bundera
Re: MR2 AW11 Calipers wanted
Do you the supercharged AW11? SW20's came out with turbos.
I used SW20 non turbo calipers on my hilux conversion.
I dont know what the difference between the turbo and non turbo calipers.

The turbo ones have a bigger piston area apparently & they fit the Prado ventilated disc. They are marked 22v

The sw20 non turbo (16v markings) use a slightly smaller rotor than the turbo model (v22 marking). Both use vented rotors.
The v22 calipars (spelling
) are getting hard to find now tho.
I use a kzj/lj78 rear rotors on hiluxs which works well.

Re: MR2 AW11 Calipers wanted
I have the LJ78 rear rotor & that is why I really would like to use the 22v caliper as they match the disc diameter better & I need the truck to stop on 35's for cert & have a half by decent hand brake. My preference would be to put a complete KZJ78 rear in the truck but unfortunately can't afford that

Still looking. Turns out I was put crook about what they come off. Apparently I want the ones that come off a SW20 Gen3 turbo. Anyone know where I can get some from?

Did they work ok??
Im only using it on my daily and on 31s so not needing the big clamping power to stop big donuts.
How did the hanbrake setup work?
Cheers.
Re: MR2 AW11 Calipers wanted
They work well, had to use a proportioning valve to reduce the line pressure and stop the rears locking up before the fronts. They are fitted to a suzuki so the hand brake already had the 2 cables, I just had to modify the cable mounts and get adaptors for the cable pull end.
I used 90 series rear rotors, the diameter is too big so the pads had to be filed to suit.

Many thanks for that, looks like there is many combos, and you need to be creative to make it work for you

Yeah confused, aw11 or sw20? No such thing as turbo aw11 (at least not factory)
