Just wondering what set of rules you guys are using when it comes to an exocage for winch comps, I understand there's a few different sets of rules??? Which is best?
Cheers

Re: Exocage
They are all much of a much-ness.... Just need to stick to one standard.
The ORANZ one is pretty good.
However with an exo cage only you don't really comply with the basic rules which is the main hoop has to be behind the drivers position...and so many mm away.
Depends if you are doing it to a single cab only or something longer.

Cheers guys, It's for a safari.
If it's all welded what's the easiest way to get the winch mounted in the front bar and have it accessible but protected?

Re: Exocage
I have an exo, but to make it right for winch comp I technically need 1 diagonal going from top of main hoop to bottom of other side.
This means going thru the truck body - which can become difficult and un wanted. I have a full bodied SWB GQ
Ive read all 4 sets of rules and the diagonal is a shall from my read

Re: Exocage
exo's have no strength and integrity and are usually made more to try and minimise panel and body damage but are 50/50 whether they minimise or cause body damage
internal cages have triangulation and diagonal bracing and maintain the integrity and shape of the body when your going arse over tit
, its always worth thinking out what the objective is before you start welding bars all over your truck

Beg to differ there Derk. A poorly designed exo, with out sufficient triangulation will have no strength. Same for a poor internal cage.
If you just want to protect panels, sure build a jungle gym for your truck. If you plan to drive in a spirited fashion at any point, or enter a comp, make sure you have proper cross braces and triangulation. For an exo on a wagon this will mean cutting holes in the body for the cross braces.
