will a h25a head fit a H20A, my escudo came with a broken cam journal and worn bearing on the cam. Found it when putting new chains and tensioners in. Or will the cam fit. Not having much luck finding internal engine parts for the H20A.

Put the H25A in instead of the H20A. Can be done by swapping all the periphials on the block over.

Thank you, I went a bit deeper into the motor and found scoring on other bearings, Its time for a new H20A engine. When I got the escudo I do not think an oil change had been done for a very long time it had sludge not oil. I have a new set of chains, tensioners, sprockets and pumps just waiting for a replacement engine.

Should a H25A become available does anything else have to be changed or will the recertification be easy.

I haven't done one my self but there have been a few of these swaps done and people are happy with the results.

You won't go over the horsepower limit so shouldn't need certifying.

The H25a with it's standard injection system produces more torque lower down and about another 15-20hp up high. They are also easier to get hold of.

I would stick with the H20a transmission (I'm assuming it auto) as it looks like it has a lower 1st gear (which you won't regret). As far as I can tell all you need to do is swap the long block and use all of the H20a manifolds and external components so it still runs he H20a injection system.

I have a manual swb. I will see what comes motor comes to hand first, 20 or 25, at least I have options. A relatively simple cam chain and tensioners job has turned into major surgery . This is all because the oil was not changed in the past.

Ah, ok. Thats even less risky. What ever engine you get make sure you fit a new rear main seal as these engines have a problem with them leaking. There's a new revision seal that solves the problem, BNT sell the correct one and it's worth about $20.

thanks for the input, further delving into the motor have made a rebuild impractical. The whole vehicle is now up for disposal

Are you parting it out?

I was hoping to sell as a lot, reg is on hold and all the parts are there, the motor did not have oil changes so needs either complete strip to check bearings or replacement. I have been asked to reduce my projects so it has to go.
