Any one have experience with this? is it any good and is it reliable? seems like another electric thing to go wrong to me.

Re: nissan e 4wd system
By the looks of it this system uses electric motors to drive the rear wheels when needed. Supposedly it increases efficiency over a standard 4wd system because it can disconnect the rear drive better than mechanical systems.
Here's a link to how the system works http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/DOCUMENT/PDF/ENVIRONMENT/TECHNOLOGY/en_tech_e4wd.pdf
Motors and drives has been used in industrial systems for years and are very reliable and efficient but are relatively new to the automotive world. The biggest concern would be the battery life but it looks like there is no battery in this system so you should be good there.
An electric motor has a far superior torque curve, better response and can be controlled easier than an internal combustion engine so Nissan state the performance of this system is very good but as seeing as there is still an engine there you will have more components in this system. If it's 1st generation then be wary, if it's second or third generation generally more of the kinks have been ironed out of the system and it's usually more reliable and will preform better.
Sorry I can't help you more as I haven't actually owned one of these but hopefully this gives you a bit more of an understanding for the decision.
