Aside from Ridgerider and Tred recovery plastic ramps, are those cheaper ones on TM (copies I guess) any good for both 4WD and ATV's? Have doubts on their longevity and taking the punishment but I suppose you get what you pay for?

Guess the ramps can't be very common for 4wding? Interesting.

I have a set of the ridge rider ones, they are ok. Not had a lot of use but as a back up they have worked.
A mate got a set of the trade me ones and they have been tried once, Handled the weight of a LWB Prado ok. Who knows how long they will last, just have to try and look after them.
Would be sweet for Quads etc.

I got a couple of those ridge rider ones when they were on sale at supercheap once. Cost me $40 I think so I thought what the hell...
Only used them twice, they're ok. Just a simple roll up rubber slat design with wire going through to hold them all together. Better than nothing but winch is better

Bread crates hold up pretty well...don't know if the local dairy owner agrees though

Thanks for the replies. I have purchased some TM ramp cheapies - look like a copy of the Ridge Ryder? ($78.00 pr). Mainly for my Polaris Ace quad as I have some boggy bits to cross and the quad at 387 kgs dry weight with stock tyres( narrower than I would like), the ramps are my back up plan. No trees close enough to winch from unless you have a ground anchor I suppose. The Ridge Ryder ramps appear to be the ultimate design and toughness though but at a cost from Supercheap around $300.00 pr ($180.00 ea when I looked)! If anyone has watched that Aussie 4wd Adventure series on tv channel 12 - aside from the fishing bits, they sure thrash their Toyota's and Polaris ATV - and they have used the Ridge Ryder ramps in mainly sandy/red clay conditions. All good stuff.

The guys on 'All 4 Adventure', if that is the show you are referring to, use Maxtrax, not the Supercheap Ridge Ryder brand. Similar design, but I would expect the Maxtrax to be a better product again.

Gotcha - they have the products over there, now using bread crates - that's Kiwi no8 wire thinking! We can do it! Cheers.
