Hilux light plug issue

Had a small issue where the lights wouldn't go and the high beam light was permanent on. I took it down to an auto sparky and they reckoned they're fixed it well two days later and the same issue occurred. I pulled the dash apart and tracked it back to this burnt out plug just wondering what the best way to fix this is I would take it back to the auto sparky but they'll want me to make another booking and pay more money plus I'll only end up getting more pissed off with them so what's the best way to fix this?

before you replace the plug you need to find out why there was so much load on the circuit for it to get that hot

As what Derk said, you first need to check the load on the circuit.

Do you have by any chance upgraded headlights? i think all hilux utes came with sealed beams which were candles at about 35w, if you have semi sealed beams (ones where you can change the bulb) you might have 100w lamps in there and this causes a lot of heat in that connector, i melted mine as well and this was the cause.

Yup upgrded headlights sorted the power feed so shouldn't get hot anymore just need to fix the plug guy at repco was useless so I guess I might try the wrecker next

Just bridge it. This is a common issue with toyota's when bigger headlight bulbs are fitted, it is the earth for the dip switch contacts. If you want to use bigger wattage bulbs you HAVE to fit relays to them.

So just skip the plug and connect the two wires together? Relays got fitted at the auto sparky so shouldn't burn out any more but they never fixed the plug or wire

You can get those kind of plugs from Narva. BNT stock some and can order others in from the catalogue. Hope that helps?

Of its the only one pin damaged just solder a link across the plug . easier and cheaper then changing entire plug
