Pics attached showing 31x10.5 x15 on the old tart, has 50mm lift and a bit more clearance created.

For the guys that have gone through this before, what diameter could this go up to and still clear okay (allowing for 11.5" or 12.5" or whatever aspect)?, especially the back wheel when right up hard in the guard.

Probably 33" would be the max I would consider, but doesn't worry me if I'm stuck on 31"s, 32x11.5 would be nice

Half the problem is tyre width. Too wide and it becomes a problem unless you opt for wide wheel arch flares and a guard trim.
with 50mm lift and a little trim at back of rear wheel arch (which looks like has been done you will get 32-inch tyres. either 235x85x16 or 265x75x16.
and because of the clearance underneath you will have as much if not more clearance than a Nissan or Toyota on 33's.

Thanks for that, might go and talk to the guy selling these and see how they look, once I work out how to measure my rim width with the tires on!

I beg to differ.
They are both regarded as 32-inch tyres
265x75x16 BFG KM2 is 31.9 inches That is more like 32-inch rather than 31 as you suggest.

A lot has to do with the tyre manufacturer and their specs.

Okay, last question, whats the view on the 32x11.5 on the 8" steelie rims, workable or essential to go to 10" rims

Way better on the 8 inch rim. On the 10s you are more likely to pop the bead when running lower pressures

just check the rim is wide enough to satisfy the wof, apparently you cant put 8" rim in a 12.5" tyre, not sure what the requirements are exactly pay to check.

i got 33" under mine , 1" spring lift, no body lift and cut the bejeezes out of the guards, front were cut to the inner panel, the rear i cut the inner guard and the door by about 50mm ,they still rub on full articulation.

Best thing you can put on is Extended Bump Stops, can save your tyres heaps once you go bigger tyres.

I run a set of 32" and also 33" on other rims, both sets of rims are 7" and both run heavy duty tubes. If your running tubeless then go with narrower rims rather than 10" or they will break away from bead more often once aired down.

Got the 32"s fitted today, look the part, bigger than I expected to be honest, will do some comparison pics when it stops raining, so people can see what they look like if they are considering these.

Pedro, yes the old tart is still going, more reliable than I expected to be honest, jump in it, starts first pop, even if its been sitting for a month or two. Can't beat that old British reliability!

If anyone wants the old 31x10.5x15 Maxxis bighorns, here they are on TM for a $1 res for the set of 4.

i think the HEI will have quite a bit to do with that !!!

Here are pics of the 32" on if anyone is wanting to see the difference, they do clear, but not by a lot and may give the guards a wee bend anyway. Cheers
