Hey Guys,
Lately I'm frequently getting the TD27s starter not engaging with the flywheel, resulting in a loud whizzzzz.
Seems like it happens almost every second time I try start her up. Usually a second attempt and its all good, but I'm worried it's on it's way out and dont want to be left stranded somewhere.
Is it more likely to be this bendix thingy, or the solenoid that pushes it? Where do they commonly fail.
I'm wondering if it's something I can pull apart and fix up, or if they are generally considered an non-serviceable part?
Cheers for any insight.

Re: Starter whizzing!
If the starter is turning or whizzing as you say, it's probably the clutch in the starter itself, when they start to go kaput they work sometimes and not others.
simple enough to replace if you are a DIY 'er.

Starter motor is serviceable, starter motor clutch is non serviceable... half the time a starter clutch is worth more than a replacement aftermarket starter too...
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....
