Lokka question

Post by catalystracing »

I recently replaced my leaking pinion seal on the rear diff. (LN107) Without really thinking I torqued things up to spec from the Toyota manual. (for the crush tube)
It has a Lokka installed and it now seams to be engaged more than it used to be. Is there a torque setting that is different for the Lokka compared to the LSD that used to reside there??
If I have to re-torque this Im guessing I need to replace the crush tube also.

Any advice (helpful) is welcomed.

Pinion bearing pre load or crown wheel and pinion mesh shouldn't affect the locker. Jack it up and test operation - ie turn one wheel backwards and see if it ratchets as it should.
May the force be with you.

Bearing preload should have no effect on the locker operation at all.

With regards to the crush tube - It will need to be replaced now you've crushed it further than intended.
If you're likely to be keeping this particular diff for a decent while, then I'm going to suggest you replace the crush tube with a solid spacer and shims. it's a bit more mucking round to set up initially, but the beauty about the solid spacers is that after you've replaced the pinion seal, you can torque the bearing preload every time without having to worry about replacing anything.

Old seal out, new seal in, torque the nut. Job done.
