Can i get some opinions on this as a buy..

Hey Team,

Been awhile since i sold my last truck and finally got the go ahead to start looking for another. Dont have much to spend ($5kish) as we live in Auckland and apparently we have to stay here :x

Would love to get opinions on the above, wanted a 70 series for a long time having only owned Hiluxes before. Will end up doing a lot of work on it myself so it eventually becommes my semi-daily driver and club run truck.

Cheers,
Alex.

cart springs are easily altered etc

Cheers for the info, do you know the most likely places to find rust i should be looking for? Cart springs? (sorry for my ignorance) Do you know how hard it is to find door skins, carpets etc for these?

Cheers again,
Alex

Cart springs as in horse and cart, they can be like sitting in trailer being towed around,
Look everywhere for rust especially round windows bottom of doors and seams.

there's plenty of parts around for those old trucks mate they are all getting pretty old and harder/less economic to keep on the road so there's plenty parked up getting wrecked :D

that particular one is someone's beaten up old hack so factor that in before you part with your hard earnt $5k and potentially thousands more trying to keep it looking tidyish and up to wof standard, it looks like every panel has had some sort of a bash so don't go buying it sight unseen or you could end up with a few surprises :D common rust is everywhere on those things, roof gutters, rear windows, windscreen, rear quarters, door bottoms, lower A pillars, front floor wells, bottom of front guards, front of bonnet :D it looks better underneath than it does bodywise it looks like its spent more time on road than off road, its got old man emu springs and shocks in the front but I don't know why its got caster wedges it should steer fine without them :D personally I'd put its value at 1/2 what he's asking for it :D

It doesn't look like a 13bt either, just a regular 3b so factor on being late to everything you go to and being overtaken by a hilux!

Hrmmmm, im beguinning to think this might not be the right 4wd for me. My love and desire for a 70 series is clouding my mind, but i think i might be better waiting till i can afford a better example and getting something else in the meantime..

Back to the hunt...

Cheers Team!

$6k on rebuilding a 3b... looks kinda rough under the hold for that sorta rebuild.
If its been well looked after like they say,and you should get it for less than $5k and that wouldn't be bad buying. Id say its been well used offroad and may have seen the odd beach.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..
