Custom panhard link/advice wanted

Post by churchill »

I need a longer panhard link for my truck. Its a custom setup with FJ80 tie rod ends and I can't get a cert as it too short so to get 1.5 x thread diameter of the tie rod end into it.

It needs to be around 810mm to 830mm long and have a M23x1.5 right hand thread in one end and M23x1.5 left hand thread in the other.

As an alternative can I get an 80 series tie rod or drag link, cut one end down and re-tap?

It's all set up and welded with the tapers so I would like to retain the tie rod ends if possible.

Hi,
I am a bit surprised tie rod ends are considered strong enough for panhard.
I would say you best and cheapest option would be to get an 80 series tie rod with ends and then cut to length and retap the RH end.

I have got a tap if required, have got LH and RH, also need to drill out to 21.5mm.

If you have already got the ends I have got some surplus tie rods that I could cut and tap for you if you wanted.

Cheers
Tim
